Inside exposed stone walls hint at the rustic origins of the building while keeping rooms cool in summer and cosy in winter. Tiled floors downstairs are cool to walk on in summer and warmed with colourful rugs in the winter.
In the large, airy kitchen you will find all you need to make full use of the wonderful local produce. There is a dishwasher, oven, gas hob, combination microwave oven, fridge/freezer and washing machine. The large table comfortably seats up to ten people and there is a cosy sitting area and wood burning stove for chillier evenings. On the shelves there is a selection of games and books including cookery books to help you make the most of local produce.
Downstairs there is one double bedroom and one twin bedded room each with French windows opening onto the garden. Both have en-suite facilities – one with shower and one with a bath. Upstairs there is one double bedroom and one twin bedded room each with views over the countryside and an en-suite shower room. All four bedrooms have been designed to make the most of the morning sun and views over the fields and garden. At the top of the stairs is a comfortable sitting room/study.
Outside – extensive gardens, barbecue and outside eating area.
Swimming pool – outdoor solar heated with poolside shower and fully fenced.
Pets and smoking are not allowed, two bedrooms are downstairs for those less able to use stairs. The property is suitable for some wheelchair users if they come with a helper for one or two larger steps but if you have particular needs regarding accessibility please telephone to discuss them with us – this is an old property and has been converted within those restrictions.
The garden and surrounding fields provide plenty of space for all the family to enjoy. There is a barbecue area and large table and chairs. Just up the hill is a swing set in a magnificent sweet chestnut tree with views over the countryside. Nearby is a fire pit and seating so you can enjoy a ‘camping moment’.
There is an area for playing boules and you will find these in the house with the other games. Set in several hectares and completely surrounded by fields La Talbotte is surrounded by chemins (country roads similar to British bridleways) giving walkers, runners and cyclists plenty of opportunities to explore the countryside.
Five minutes away if you are interested in riding there is an equestrian centre (English) where you can have lessons or go out for hacks in beautiful surroundings on a variety of well loved and cared for horses. Ring Sarah on 05 49 05 30 75.
